Learning Lunch Feat. Dr. Alison Henry - VOYAGE OF THE PELICAN GIRLS

December 11, 2024
12:00pm - 1:00pm

The History Museum of Mobile will host a special Learning Lunch program on Wednesday, December 11, 2024 at 12pm. The program will feature Dr. Alison Henry, Instructor in the Department of Biomedical Sciences at the University of South Alabama. Her presentation is titled Voyage of the Pelican Girls.

Originally hailing from Texas, Dr. Alison Henry has developed a great love for just about everything associated with her adopted city of Mobile.  As a lecturer, she enjoys teaching students about food safety, anatomy, and microbiology.  As an armchair historian, she has become enamored of spreading the true story of the early days of Fort Louis at 27 Mile Bluff, including the arrival of 23 young women sent by the King aboard the Pelican in 1704. While the girls brought both good and bad to the colony, their legacy reverberates on the Gulf Coast to this day.

The History Museum of Mobile invites the public to attend the free hour-long Learning Lunch lecture series. Guests are encouraged to bring their lunch and enjoy a presentation on a historical or cultural topic. For more information on Learning Lunch, contact Jennifer Theeck, Curator of Education, by phone at (251) 301-0270 or by email at theeckj@historymuseumofmobile.com.
