The History Museum of Mobile will host its upcoming Learning Lunch program on Wednesday, November 13, 2024 at 12pm. The program will feature Dr. Matthew Downs, Dean of the College of Arts and Sciences and professor of history at the University of Mobile. His presentation is titled Alabama in the Great War. 

Dr. Matthew L. Downs is the Dean of the College of Arts and Sciences and a professor of history at the University of Mobile. He is a graduate of Birmingham-Southern College and the University of Alabama. His particular interest is in the political, economic, and social changes that affected Alabama and the rest of the South in the 20th century. He serves as editor of the Alabama Review and as vice president of the Alabama Historical Association. He is the author of Transforming the South (2014) and co-editor of The American South and the Great War (2018), as well as several other articles and book chapters. He lives in Daphne with his wife and two children. 

The History Museum of Mobile invites the public to attend the free hour-long Learning Lunch lecture series. Guests are encouraged to bring their lunch and enjoy a presentation on a historical or cultural topic.
