Learning Lunch Feat. Dr. Timothy Buckner, Associate Professor Of History At Troy University

The History Museum of Mobile will host its next Learning Lunch program on Wednesday, September 11, 2024, at 12pm. It will feature Dr. Timothy Buckner, Associate Professor of History at Troy University. The topic of his presentation is Race and Masculinity in William Johnson’s Natchez

Dr. Timothy R. Buckner is an Associate Professor of History and Associate Chair of the Department of History and Philosophy at Troy University. His teaching and research focus is on race, slavery, and masculinity in the American South. He is the co-editor of the Journal of American History article titled, “Fathers, Preachers, Rebels, Men: Black Masculinity in U.S. History and Literature, 1820–1945,” and the author of The Barber of Natchez Reconsidered: William Johnson and Black Masculinity in the Antebellum South. The book was the winner of the Jules and Frances Landry Award for 2023-2024.

The History Museum of Mobile invites the public to attend the free Learning Lunch lecture series. Guests are encouraged to bring their lunch and enjoy a presentation on an historical or cultural topic.
